Why does the policy require me to get approval before spending more than £500 on medical costs?

Letting us know early gives us the best chance of helping you properly. If we’re involved before costs are run up, we can speak directly with the hospital. We can also help make sure the treatment you’re receiving is appropriate. In some cases, we can issue a Guarantee of Payment, if cover is confirmed and the hospital is able to accept it.

Any costs above £500 that are run up without our agreement may not be covered. We do understand that in a genuine emergency it’s not always possible to contact us first. In those situations we’ll look at the circumstances of your case individually.
