CUTTING YOUR TRIP SHORT
My annual multi-trip policy expires while I am still on holiday. Am I covered for the rest?
In a real claim: A customer’s annual policy expired on day 11 of a 14-day holiday. A medical event on day 12 fell outside the policy period and was not covered.
If your policy expires while you’re still away, your cover ends on that date. The rest of your trip isn’t covered.
If you know your policy is due to expire before or during your trip, renew it before you travel. If you’ve already gone, you’d need to take out a new policy with another provider. It’s worth checking with them first, as most won’t cover a trip that’s already started.
The one exception is a medical emergency. If you’re too unwell to travel home before your policy ends, we’ll extend your cover automatically. That runs until you’re fit to travel or can be moved to a UK medical facility.
