PERSONAL BELONGINGS

What should I do if my luggage is lost by the airline?

In a real claim: Heathrow August 2024: 270,000 passengers in one day with 98% of bags arriving as expected. The 2% that do not still represent thousands of bags across the network.

Report it straight away at the airport baggage desk before you leave. You’ll need a Property Irregularity Report (PIR). This is required for both delayed and lost baggage claims, so make sure you get it before you leave the airport.

Airlines typically wait around 21 days before treating a bag as irretrievably lost, though some may take longer. Once you have written confirmation from the airline that the bag is permanently lost, send it to us and we’ll assess your claim.

If we’ve already paid a baggage delay claim, we’ll deduct that amount from your final settlement.
